GeekVape Griffin RTA Review

Posted by Dex L on

The Griffin RTA is a rebuildable tank atomizer designed and manufactured by GeekVape. The Griffin RTA is a beautifully designed tank that features a huge rebuildable deck allowing you more room to build your coils for more complex coil structure. It also features a top filling design for easy and quick filling.

Design and Build

The GeekVape Griffin RTA is constructed with stainless steel and a Pyrex glass tube. The finish is machined precisely to give the tank a striking presence. The 510 connector is gold-plated and it is adjustable to allow better conductivity to fit most sub ohm devices.

The craftsmanship on the Griffin RTA is excellent with laser engraving Griffin logo on bottom part of the chimney section and Geek Vape logo on the top of the tank. The tank’s height is a bit higher than most tanks measuring at 58.5mm (2.30inches) including the drip tip. Diameter is 22mm so it will fit and flush perfectly with most mods. The capacity is 3.5ml, which is the average capacity for most some sub ohm tanks.

Containing six removable parts, the Griffin can be fully detached for quick and easy cleaning. It includes a spare Pyrex glass when needing to replace the old one. Also includes spare colored O-rings, to give the RTA a different look or to replace when there is a leak.

The Griffin comes with a wide bore Delrin drip tip, which allows bigger hits while remaining cool after chain vaping. The tank includes a 510 drip tip adapter so you can be able to use other standard 510 drip tips.

The building deck of the Griffin RTA is why this RTA is different from the other RTAs out there. The RTA features a Velocity-style two-post deck with 2mm post-holes spread out 6mm apart on a 16.1mm diameter deck, allowing room for complex structure, perfect for a dual coil build. With the big deck and 2 holes on each side, it is easy to work with, needing little effort. Each post uses hex screws to allow tightening of the coils and it includes a hex screwdriver.

There are four wick holes with two on each side, which the wick tails sits in. The e-liquid flows through these ports to saturate the cotton. The juice flow is controllable by turning the juice flow control ring above the airflow control ring.

The Griffin RTA includes a bottom dual airflow control by rotating the ring at the bottom of the tank. Each airflow slot measures at 12mm by 2mm allowing good airflow. The airflow is smooth but not as good as an RDA type of airflow. The RTA uses a top filling making it easier to refill the tank without having to remove the tank from the mod. The top filling holes are pretty big and there are two holes making it very simple to refill the tank.

Performance

The performance of the Griffin RTA is pretty satisfying mostly due to the fact that it is very easy to build allowing you use complex coil structures like Clapton coils. The flavor on here is great, but it is a juice guzzler just like most rebuildable tanks. Vapor production and flavor is not as great as an RDA, nonetheless, it is worthy for a RTA. When building it correctly, there was no issue with leaking and no dry hit.

Conclusion

The Griffin RTA is a nicely built RTA featuring easy top fill with adjustable juice flow control. The Geek Vape Griffin setup allows an easy build with its 16.5mm deck, which is probably the best thing about this RTA. While the airflow only allows for dual coil build only, this should be great for awesome vaping. For the price of $30, you can’t go wrong allowing to build a complex set up while getting great flavor and vapor production.
