Eleaf iStick TC100W Review

Posted by Dex L on

From your iStick 20W to the iStick TC100W, Eleaf keeps bringing development to the iStick family. With additional features such as temperature control and sub ohm capability with high power output, the TC100W is capable of reaching 100W using two 18650 batteries and up to 75W using one single battery. Yes, the TC100W can work using one battery, which is pretty awesome allowing more flexibility.

Design and Build

The design of the iStick is very similar to the Kangerbox KBOX 200W with rounded sides letting you hold it comfortably. The TC100W differs from most mods by featuring a squeeze fire button allowing you to easily fire the device similar to the  Smok X Cube II. It is comfortable to vape while using this feature and it is compact in size that will fit securely in the palm of your hands. The top of the device has a locking switch to prevent the device from firing when squeezing the mod. While the squeezing feature is great, it can have a negative impact when forgetting to lock the firing button, which can cause the device to fire on its own in mobile compact spaces.

The magnetic battery covers are held tightly in place while removing the battery cover is quick to do. There are different colored covers available to give the device a distinctive appearance. The TC100W uses micro USB charging, which is found at the bottom of the device for easy and quick charging. Even it is recommended to use an external battery such as the Nitecore charger, micro USB charging makes it more convenient to charge the device when on the go.

The firmware of the Eleaf TC100W is upgradeable allowing you to update to the latest software for the device using the micro USB port to connect to your computer. The latest firmware will give the device an output of 120W.

The iStick TC100W include an LED screen displaying the current battery life, the resistance of atomizer, voltage/wattage, and wattage/temperature. It also displays the type of mode you are currently in; Ni, Ti, SS, TCR, VW, or bypass mode. The brightness of the screen is on the lighter side, but it should not be an issue when reading the screen with a black strip along the front of the device, giving the display a crisper presence.

The 510 connector is spring loaded made with stainless steel for tough wear resistance and great adaptability.

The build on the device is pretty wholesome for the price you pay for it. It is compact in size measuring at 94mm (3.70in) in height, 52mm (2.05in) in width and 23mm (0.91in) diameter. The vented holes are located at the bottom of the device and on the top portion of the back side. Compared to other box mods, the TC100W is limited on the vented holes, so the device can get warmer faster.

Performance and Usage

As for the usage, the iStick TC100W features the ability to use single or dual  18650 batteries. It can be useful allowing you to still use your device with a single battery when the second one runs out. It is recommended that mod is used with matching high-amp (25A and up) batteries. With a maximum output of 100W, the devices work great with sub ohm tanks as low as resistance of 0.10ohm in wattage and Bypass mode, and 0.05ohm in temp control mode. When using one single 18650 battery, the TC100W can produce an output of 75W. The wattage can be adjusted by 0.1W increments for fine tuning. The device can also go into Bypass mode, which pretty much works like a mechanical mod and the output depends on the charge of the batteries. Bypass mode is usually not needed because it takes away the power of what this advanced mod can do.

In temperature control mode, the iStick 100W can be set at 4 different modes depending on the type of TC coils being used. It can be used with Nickel 200, Titanium, and 316 Stainless Steel. The temperature can be adjusted from 200°F to 600°F. The mod also supports TCR values for adjustment to the coefficients between the various metal in real time giving you options of using other TC coils. This TCR mode is for more advanced vapers.

Changing the mode can easily done by holding down the third button below the plus and minus button and using the plus and minus to get to the correct mode. To turn on and off the device, press the firing button 5 times. Holding down the minus and fire button will turn off the OLED screen enabling you to go into stealth mode. Locking the wattage/temperature adjustment can be done by pressing both the plus and minus buttons together to lock the settings. And to rotate the screen, turn off the device, and hold down the plus and minus button for 2 seconds simultaneously to flip the display.

The device performance is exceptional good when powered with most sub ohm tanks such as the  Aspire Triton and GeekVape Griffin RTA. It produces the needed power to get big clouds and great flavor. It had no issue with performing what is needed. The only issue with performance is that little lag after hitting the fire button for it to fire up.

Final Thoughts

The Eleaf iStick TC100W is a great advanced compact box mod of satisfying vaping needs when using temperature control and sub ohm tanks. The best part of the device is the squeeze to fire, which is handy for a comfortable vape. With the option of using single or dual 18650 batteries is pretty awesome knowing that if a buddy has a spare 18650 battery lying around, the device will work with the single battery.

For the price you pay for the iStick TC100W, the device is well worth it for its unique features and great performance. It is beautiful in design while packing great power capable of operating with the best sub ohm tanks.
